Ford sentenced in animal cruelty case

A Fayette County man was sentenced today on animal cruelty charges.

Michael Ford, 57, was sentenced to three to fifteen years in prison by Judge John  W. Hatcher after pleading guilty to three felony counts of cruelty to animals. Ford admitted to placing at least three cats in a wooden box and throwing them into a fire back on October 21st, 2013. As part of his sentencing, Ford will serve the three convictions consecutively and pay a $1,000 fine for each felony. Ford is also not permitted to own or be around domestic animals for the next 15 years.
