BLUEFIELD - Bluefield Police are on the lookout for a woman who allegedly tried to rob a bank.

Detective K. L. Adams said police have warrants for the arrest of Beverly Mangum of Bluefield, Virginia.

Adams said on April 11, Mangum entered First Century Bank at the intersection of Leatherwood and College Avenue in Bluefield, W.Va. and gave the teller a note saying to put money in a black plastic bag she provided. Mangum allegedly brandished her firearm from her waistband and stated she would shoot. The teller hit the silent alarm button and began placing money in the bag before accidentally tipping the cash drawer over, at which point Mangum reportedly left in the middle of the commotion without the money.

Police received an anonymous tip that Mangum robbed the bank and then the teller positively identified her in a photo lineup, according to Adams.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 304-327-6101.
