BEAVER – Kids in Southern West Virginia need your help to succeed in school, and a university is working to make it happen.

Concord University is trying to "Stuff a Bus" with school supplies for kids in our area.

Organizers say getting the tools to kids who don't have the means to do it gives them confidence to succeed. Concord is looking for any kind of supplies including notebooks, folders, pens, and pencils.

Event organizer Pam Wallace says the reward for serving the community and empowering kids in school is priceless, based on the reactions of last year.

“Some of the supplies went into a classroom with kids with special needs; we had supplied coloring books for them and she said it was the first time they had seen that kid smile all year.”

You can donate at the Erma Byrd center in Beaver, or at the student center on the Concord campus in Athens.

Wallace adds, “It’s things like that, that really make you understand how important a collection like this is.”
