Former state trooper arrested for DUI, police say

MOUNT HOPE - A former state trooper is facing a felony charge after an early morning arrest in Fayette County.

The Mount Hope Police Department told Newswatch James Tyler Robinson was arrested for charges including DUI fleeing, DUI, carrying a concealed weapon and reckless driving. 

Robinson worked for a short time with the Oak Hill detachment of State Police, according to Cpl. Bill Gritt. 

Robinson is accused of running an officer into a ditch, then attempting to flee the scene. Authorities said Robinson was apprehended on Lions Club Road when it was discovered he had a loaded gun. 

He remains in jail on $10,000 bond.
