Man in jail following shooting on Harper Road, police say

BECKLEY - A man is in jail on a felony charge after authorities say he shot another man following a confrontation early Saturday morning. 

Jason Edward Clyburn, 23, was arrested by the Beckley Police Department for malicious wounding. He remains in Southern Regional Jail on $25,000 bond.

Sgt. W.J. Ray with the Beckley Police Department said Clyburn got into an altercation with the victim around 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the Quality Inn on Harper Road. 

Clyburn fired twice from a .380 caliber firearm, striking the victim once in the leg, according to authorities. He was arrested soon after at a Mabscott home. 

The victim drove himself to a hospital and has since been released.
