MOUNT HOPE - The Mount Hope Police Department is one man larger Thursday following a ceremony for its newest patrolman.

Surrounded by family 22-year-old Tyler B. McMillion was sworn in by Mayor Michael Martin and Congressman Nick Rahall. His parents, grandmother, girlfriend, sister-in-law and nephew cheered him on.

The Mount Hope native said it's been his dream to be an officer since his days in school. Not only is he happy to be working in his hometown, McMillion said he's excited to train with great supervisors.

"It's a great opportunity," he told WOAY. "I've really wanted to do this for a long time, and I'm happy to be here in Mount Hope to do it."

McMillion said taking the oath was nerve-racking but fun.
