Raleigh County approved a new budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year.

The upcoming budget was approved at 19.6 million dollars, a one percent increase from last year. They also approved a two million dollar co-severancy tax, no increase from last year. Commissioner Dave Tolliver says that they're happy with the budget.

"Co-severance tax, the budget for this fiscal year was not an increase. It stayed the same and the general fund was less than one percent increase so we're thrilled to death with that."

Today was the deadline for all West Virginia counties to approve their budgets for the upcoming year.
