WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS – A new police chief in Greenbrier County will take over at the end of the month.

John Pauley is appointed the new police chief in White Sulphur Springs at a ceremony Monday night.

Pauley is a 25-year veteran of the West Virginia State Police.

Mayor Lloyd Haynes chose Pauley over several other candidates and city council affirmed the decision.

The current Chief, William Wallcoen, is retiring at the end of April and says it's his time to step away from police work.
