FAYETTEVILLE - Commissioners laid the levy for the upcoming year in Fayette County.
Fayette County Staff Accountant Stephanie Sears said the West Virginia State Auditor requires each county to come up with a 2014-2015 Budget by April 15th. The Fayette County Commission met Tuesday to sign their budget into effect, which determines the rate of taxes applied to residents for the next year.
This new budget includes funding for new cruisers for the sheriff's department, a new roof for the court house, as well as salaries of court house staff and other city officials. The total assessed amount is $2 billion and the Fayette County Budget amount totaled more than $10 million.
"It lays the tax rate for the county and they are signing the letters of the approved budget right now to go out to the office holders and any outside agencies,” said Sears.
This new 2014-2015 budget will go into effect on July 1st of this year.
