BECKLEY - A Beckley man was arrested
after admitting to robbing a convenience store in Raleigh County.
Darnell Jackson, 33, is charged with
second-degree robbery. Lieutenant David Farley with the Beckley Police
Department said Jackson confessed to the crime to detectives, stating he had a
drug problem and needed money.
The robbery happened at the Little
General on Johnstown Road in Beckley around 9 a.m. Sunday, according to Farley.
Officers responded and found out that a person had come into the store yelling
and hitting the cash register demanding money. The suspect then left on foot
with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Officers were in the area at the time
and were able to locate Jackson walking on the road within a matter of minutes,
according to Farley. Most of the stolen money has since been recovered and
returned to the store.
Jackson is in Southern Regional Jail
on $75,000 bond.

BECKLEY – A convenience store in Raleigh County is robbed this morning and the suspect is behind bars.
It happened at the Little General on Johnstown Road in Beckley, and authorities captured Darnell Jackson, 33, of Beckley in connection with the crime.
Beckley Police and Raleigh County Sheriff's responded to the call around 9 a.m.
Lt. Gant Montgomery of the Beckley Police says officers were in the area at the time and were able to apprehend the suspect within a matter of minutes.
“They located clothing he had worn during the robbery. I think he had worn a skull cap mask. Once they located him, upon searching him, they found amounts of money that was stolen.”
Jackson is currently in Southern Regional Jail pending arraignment.
