BECKLEY - An awards banquet in Raleigh County was hosted Friday night to honor local law enforcement.
The 10th Annual Fraternal Order of Police Awards Banquet was held at the Moose Lodge in Beckley for the law enforcement agencies of Raleigh County. Politicians, law enforcement officials, honorable guests and their families buy out the tickets to the event. Not only featuring a buffet dinner, but guests enjoy the opportunity to hear Mayor Bill O’Brien and Senate Candidate Shelly Moore Capito give their regards.
They said the main goal of the night is to thank these officers for fighting crime in our community. Vice President of the FOP, Joe Crawford, said it important to recognize these officers' families as well. " When they step forward to receive their award I'm sure that foremost their family is in the forefront because without a good network and good support group at home with your family it's tough to do this job without that support,” said Crawford.
All proceeds from this event go directly to Crime Stoppers to assist law enforcement in fighting crime throughout the year.
