WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Barack Obama nominated a Hinton native to succeed Kathleen Sebelius as Health and Human Services secretary.

Obama said he is nominating his budget director, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, for the position.

Obama announced the resignation Friday. Sebelius served five years in the Cabinet. The former Kansas governor was blamed for the disastrous start to sign-ups for coverage under Obama's health care law.

The Cabinet shuffle lets Obama put a new face on the health care law. Burwell's nomination requires Senate confirmation.
