PANTHER - A lane of traffic is blocked Wednesday on a deteriorating road in McDowell County.

There is a 16 inch hole on Panther Creek Road in Panther from a culvert that has caused the road to deteriorate, according to Division of Highways Officials.

DOH Crews have been on-scene since Wednesday morning and traffic is flowing through the other lane, according to officials. Crews have been putting down a steel plate in the road as a temporary fix and expect both lanes to be open in the afternoon.

DOH officials said once County Route 1 is open again, permanent repairs will be made to both the culvert and Panther Creek Road.
