BECKLEY - The Beckley -Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce needs volunteers to join their efforts in cleaning up West Virginia.

The West Virginia 'Make it Shine' litter sweep will take to Harper Rd. this Friday to do their part in cleaning up the county. President Ellen Taylor of the Chamber of Commerce said counties across the state get involved in this initiative to brighten up their area for Springtime. Organizers said they need 20 - 25 volunteers to make this possible. The group will spread out from the top of Harper Rd. down to Robert C. Byrd and pick up trash.

Chamber of commerce officials said this road has been specifically selected; “because it's an entry way into Beckley and people that come into Beckley see Harper Rd. so we want to make sure that their first impression is a good one so that's why we select Harper Road,” said Taylor.

Anyone interested in volunteering can meet at the Kroger on Harper Rd. this Friday at 2 PM. Materials to pick up litter will be provided.
