BECKLEY - Police are on the lookout for a local man who allegedly robbed a Beckley hotel early Sunday morning.

Detective David Allard said warrants have been issued for the arrest of Ronald "RJ" Mayo, 31, of the Beckley area. Mayo is charged with first-degree robbery.

Mayo is caught on surveillance footage at the Quality Inn on Harper Road, according to Allard. Authorities said he presented the hotel clerk with a note saying he had a weapon on him.

The crime happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday. Dispatchers said the call came in after the robbery occurred and the scene was cleared hours later. Four officers with the Beckley Police Department responded to the scene.
