BECKLEY – A Raleigh County landmark is celebrating its spring season opening by hosting an exhibit all about the green.
The Youth Museum of Southern West Virginia is currently hosting Moneyville, an exhibit which includes a bank, an anti-counterfeiting lab, and a stock market.
The exhibit comes from Oregon and tours across the country. It will be in Beckley through the summer.
Officials say the idea to bring the exhibit to the state was born when kids were struggling to purchase items in the gift shop; not understanding how to add or calculate sales tax.
While Moneyville is geared towards children, Museum director Leslie Baker says they aren't the only ones who get the benefit.
“What's really surprising is how many adults have come in here with their children and they really get into it because there are a lot of aspects of money … And especially (enjoy) the stock market component.”
The exhibit is open every day the museum is open, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
