PRINCETON - After hours of deliberation a verdict is reached in the retrial of 41 year old John Spaulding of Montcalm.

Spaulding was found guilty on the first 3 criminal counts against him, including sexual assault and sexual abuse of children as well as possession of child porn. The final witness for the state testified Thursday morning about the psychological assessment of one of the young female victims. Closing arguments were presented and the jury was dismissed to weigh the facts just before noon. Prosecutors said the two female victims were 14 and 3 years old at the time of the incidents in 2012.

Jury members reviewed sexually explicit pictures, text trafficking records and other evidence to make their deliberation. Bond has been revoked and Spaulding will now head to Southern Regional Jail, where he will go through a sex offender evaluation.

Grandmother of one of the young female victims, Kimberly Dawson, told Newswatch: "She got what came to her. She pleaded guilty you know and she shouldn't have had to come down by herself. Kim is the mother of my niece, like I said. She didn't do it all by herself. She had to have had some help and I'm glad justice came and now maybe my niece will come back around and talk to me."

Sentencing for this case has been set for June 2nd at 9:30 in Judge Sadler's circuit court.
