UPDATE: Car accident sends two people to hospital

UPDATE:

WHIPPLE - Authorities released the identities of the victims flown to a Charleston hospital following a car accident in Fayette County.

Captain Jim Sizemore with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said Christopher Plummer, 33, of Cool Ridge, and Vanessa McGinnis, 46, of Scarbro, were airlifted to Charleston Area Medical Center.

Sizemore said the accident occurred just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on Route 15 at the intersection of Route 612 in Whipple. He said Plummer lost control of a pickup truck owned by Cole Auto Parts of Bluefield. Plummer reportedly went through the intersection, hit a road sign, then struck a parked car with McGinnis inside before slamming into an adjacent tanning salon building.

The current condition of the victims is unknown at this time.

WHIPPLE - Two people were flown to a Charleston hospital following a car accident in Fayette County.

Captain Jim Sizemore with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said a pickup truck and a car collided just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on County Route 15 at the intersection of WV Route 612. The pickup truck hit a building next to Shirley's Market.

Both both drivers were airlifted to Charleston Area Medical Center, according to Sizemore.
