BECKLEY – A current State Senator is running for a Congressional seat, hoping to replace a long time US Representative.
Evan Jenkins was a State Rep. and is now a State Senator, hoping to make even bigger strides in legislation. Jenkins said he is running to replace Congressman Nick Rahall, saying the coal industry is not currently being supported in Washington. While taking a tour of Phillips Machine Services in Beckley, Jenkins said he hopes to support the jobs these people do, but protect worker in all fields.
“It's not just the coal jobs, it's all of the employees, their families, it's communities throughout Southern West Virginia and I am vowing to be a staunch, unapologetic fighter for our West Virginia coal miners and coal families,” said Jenkins.
Jenkins’s staff said his campaign is based around jobs for West Virginians and support of the coal mining industry.
