BECKLEY - A United States Senator sent his staff to Raleigh County on Tuesday to address senior citizen issues.

Senator Joe Manchin's staff said this Senator is trying to protect senior citizens in our state. Public meetings held throughout West Virginia will provide seniors with answers to some of their questions. Representatives from the Social Security Administration and The Bureau of Senior Services were present to tell seniors what services are being provided to them. Manchin said in a press release that attendees can learn how to help themselves and their loved ones through the services being provided. Executive Director of the Raleigh County Commission on Aging, Jack tanner, said these types of meetings mean a lot to the every day person.

"The unique thing about this effort from Senator Manchin's office is that it brings individuals from a higher level then we typically have the opportunity to have them here; to talk with our seniors about the issues and concerns they have," Tanner said.

Manchin's staff will hold similar meetings on Wednesday with senior centers in Moudsville and Weston.
