PRINCETON - A Mercer County man is accused of breaking into his acquaintance's home to steal groceries and hygiene products.

Robert Dean Payne, 55, of Montcalm, faces charges of entering without breaking, petit larceny and public intoxication.

According to Trooper N.S. Syner, who graduated from the police academy just two weeks ago, neighbors witnessed Payne leaving the victim's home. Syner later arrested Payne in a mobile home park where he was found highly intoxicated.

Some of the stolen belongings were also recovered. Police said Payne could not be arraigned until his blood-alcohol level decreased.
