BECKLEY - An attempted break-in to a gun and pawn shop in Raleigh County has police officers seeking aid from the community.

Surveillance footage, taken by cameras on the outside of the Beckley Gun and Pawn Shop sometime after 3 AM on Thursday morning, shows a black male attempting to break in to the store through the windows. This store is located at 152 East Prince Street in Beckley and the store owner said they have been in business there for over 20 years. In that time there have been multiple attempts at break ins, but nobody has penetrated the building. The owner said they have upped their security features and alarm systems to protect against these types of crimes and Beckley police officials said the system is working.

"It's obviously a concern, any type of store like that, and I think that's why they focus so much on security. Luckily this particular business has several security features that kept that from happening. We were also alerted by an alarm system that they had inside the business and our officers were there within a matter of minutes," said Detective Morgan Bragg of the Beckley Police Dept.

Beckley Police officers are seeking answers from the community. Anyone with information is asked to please call the Beckley Police Department Crime Stoppers phone line at 304-255-STOP.
