Autopsy results in for UC Beckley student found dead in January

BECKLEY - Autopsy results finalized the investigation in the death of a UC Beckley student who was found dead in Mid -January.

Detective Morgan Bragg said 19-year-old Sheila Hopkins of Bluefield was found unresponsive inside her room at Hogan Hall on January 15th. After an extensive investigation by the Beckley Police Department, the autopsy results showed that Hopkins died of natural causes. Officials said the campus and community have been helpful throughout the investigation.

 

Bragg said, "the results of that indicated it was a natural death. It indicated it was in relation to an existing heart condition. We would like to thank the public for their support in this investigation as well as the university itself; they were pivotal in verifying that this investigation was carried out."

Police said this wraps up the investigation in the Sheila Hopkins case and ruled out any foul play.
