Pre-K registration and screening for Fayette County kids

LOOKOUT - Many Fayette County parents were getting the jump on education with their 3 and 4 year olds on Friday.

The Fayette County Board of Education held a registration and screening event on Friday for parents and Pre-K children at Lookout Baptist Church. School board officials said the event saves time and has been utilized by many parents over the past few years. This early registration process is for the 2014-2015 school year, but preparation and school placement takes some time to accomplish.

A Fayette County School Consultant, David Cavalier, said, "it's about a 30 minute to an hour process between the registration and the screenings of each child when they come and this process allows the collaborate team to look at applications and we make determination on placements in June. Letters are sent to parents in July."

For any Fayette County parents looking to sign up their children for Pre-K registration and screenings you can still do so next week, March 28th, at the National Guard Armory in Glen Jean from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
