FAYETTEVILLE – The Fayette County Commission is nearing completion on its budget for the 2015 fiscal year.
Commissioners met Friday to finalize its budget for next year. It will increase by five percent and include more than $10 million.
Two new cruisers for the Sheriff's Office, a new trailer for the Office of Emergency Services, and general improvements for the courthouse are a few of the big items on the budget.
Also included is a salary and benefits raise for full-time courthouse employees affecting more than 130 people.
Accountant Stephanie Sears says the budget is more than just a page of numbers.
“It's important that we outline for the community how we're using their money. This budget helps the community see how their money is being used and what the commission approves.”
Levies for fire, law enforcement, and the library also increase as the taxes increase.
