WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS – An NFL team will be moving part of its training camp to Greenbrier County this summer.
The New Orleans Saints have announced the team will train for part of the year at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs.
The news comes following legislation of the West Virginia Tourism Development Act. The bill grants the resort a possible 10-year, $25 million tax credit.
The Greenbrier owner Jim Justice says a lot of work still needs to be done before May, but the current 3-year deal to host the Saints is an incredible opportunity.
“I think it's a terrific day for the state of West Virginia. I mean unbelievable to tell you the honest truth.”
He adds the economic impact is significant, “You just think from the standpoint of tourism, jobs, and hope,” says Justice.
The Saints have not yet announced dates or times, but the resort is already moving dirt on its fields.
