BECKLEY - An Eccles man was arrested after an ongoing investigation of child sexual abuse.

James Patton, 46, is being charged as a sex offender after one of his alleged victims came forward with information to authorities.

Patton is accused of being in possession of child pornography and having sexual encounters with minors. He is charged with sending, distributing, exhibiting, possessing, displaying or transporting material by a parent, guardian or custodian, depicting a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Patton's abuse of children has been going on for several years, according to Beckley State Police Officers. Authorities had their suspicions before but no hard evidence.

Officers said Patton once had a job in Oak Hill where he dealt with the general public, so they are looking for any other victims to come forward. Patton is in Southern Regional Jail on $250,000 bond.
