MOUNT HOPE - A government agency relocated this week to a space that they said is more geographically convenient for their customers.
The Social Security Administration is now open in its new location at the Crossroads Mall in Mount Hope. This administration was in its old Beckley location for 20 years, but officials said this spot has multiple advantages. Not only is there a larger space for a reception/waiting area, but the new setup is more secure for both staff and those seeking services.
The ability for more people to be seen at once will greatly increase the proficiency at the social security office, and will decrease wait time. This office serves the entirety of Raleigh, Nicholas and Summers Counties; as well as parts of Fayette, Wyoming and Boone Counties.
Melinda Gross, Assistant District manager at the SSA, said "a really big plus of our new space includes greater privacy and protection of some sensitive information that our customers have to share with us."
Officials want to remind all potential customers that most of the Social Security services are online. Also, the new location of the SSA has the same hours as the old office: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 9AM-3PM and Wed 9AM-12 NOON.
