OAK HILL - A breathtaking ride along treetops will give you a bird's-eye view of the of the 'Wild and Wonderful.'
"You've got the wind in your hair, and the forest floor is far below you, and then you've got some pretty expansive views on ACE's course, so it ends up being pretty neat for most folks," Marketing Director Beth Gill told WOAY.
The ziplining course at ACE Adventure Resort is along the rim of the New River Gorge. It offers great views of the river hundreds of feet below.
"You don't end up doing the things that are in your own backyard, and so there's so many beautiful things to do that I myself want to, but I definitely encourage folks to come out, see what it's all about, get a different perspective of the gorge," Gill said. It's exciting.
More likely than not, you'll return for more.
"Lot of folks aren't used to flying through the forest about 100 feet above the forest floor, so it ends up being pretty exciting for most folks, and they definitely want to come back," Gill said.
But if looking down from up above is a little scary, have no fear. A safety course, full-body harness and experienced guides will have you sailing like a pro on a hands-free adventure.
"If you're not really experienced in the outdoors, it's a great beginning type of experience to do just because we make it very controlled and safe so that anybody can do it," Gill told WOAY.
Beginning in June, you can chose from a half-day trip or a evening ride through the dark, and it's all doable on a tank of gas.
