UPDATE:

HILLTOP - A woman is in intensive care following a car accident in Fayette County.

The preliminary investigation reveals that Kristopher Shillingburg, 25, of the Fayetteville area, was driving an SUV when he lost control going over some train tracks on Thurmond Road in Hilltop on Tuesday night, according to Trooper J. S. Syner with the Oak Hill State Police Detachment. The SUV then hit a telephone pole, flipped and landed on an abandoned store.

Syner said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash. The passenger, Amanda Mitchell of the Fayetteville area, was flown to a Charleston hospital with serious injuries. She is expected to recover.

Shillingburg was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released that night, according to Syner. The accident remains under investigation.
