BECKLEY – A Raleigh County hospital offers free advice to residents looking for more information on high blood sugar.

Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley offers its second of three free classes on diabetes management Saturday morning.

Officials hope to highlight the importance of diet and exercise, regular doctors’ visits, and how to keep your willpower to avoid temptations.

Dwanna Gibson of Bradley was in attendance, and she says the class served as good reassurance for the care of her diabetic mother.

“I learned to keep your kidneys checked and to check your blood sugar two hours before a meal and two hours after.”

Gibson adds that she also learned the warning signs of high blood sugar.

“If she kinds gets lightheaded or, feeling kind of weak, to check it.”

The final class at the Raleigh General Education Center will be next Saturday at 9 a.m.
