PROSPERITY - A family of five seeks shelter tonight after a fire damages their Prosperity home.

Fire crews are on the scene investigating what caused an apartment fire at Beckley West Apartments. The call came in this afternoon around 3. Bradley-Prosperity Assistant Fire Chief Bobby Palmer tells us the fire was contained to the upstairs. Chief Palmer says the down stairs is mostly water and smoke damage. 12-year-old Andrew Harper lives in the unit next door and says he is glad that everyone made it out safely.

"Yeah, I just feel sorry for the people that live there. Because, all there stuff is burned up, and now they don't have anything to wear and all their clothes are burned up. So, I feel real sorry for them," Andrew Harper.

Beckley West's property manager tells NewsWatch the red cross will house the family until the investigation is complete.
