BERKELEY COUNTY - The Berkeley County Health Department's Board is considering a proposal to ban smoking in bars, private clubs and public spaces.
The proposed expansion of the county's indoor air quality policy also would apply to using hookahs or electronic cigarettes. A Tobacco Awareness Coalition proposed the changes. The County Health Officer said the Board could decide at its March 18th meeting whether to put the proposed revisions out for public comment. She said 24 counties have a comprehensive policy that covers all workplaces. The existing policy bans smoking in restaurants and enclosed public places.
