FAYETTEVILLE – An Oak Hill man is sentenced to 8 to 25 years behind bars on multiple charges.

Russell Weis, 48, appeared before Judge Paul Blake, Jr. in Fayette County Circuit Court Friday morning.

Weis was sentenced on charges including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, sexual assault, and two counts of breaking and entering.

Blake says Weis is a career criminal and ordered the maximum sentence on each of the four charges.

In addition to the maximum of 25 years in prison, Weis must register as a sex offender.

Fayette Co. Prosecuting Attorney, Larry Harrah, II approves of Judge Blake’s ruling.

“You had one of these cases that involved a minor child. Very very serious offenses and I'm in total agreement and very pleased with the sentence.”

Weis' attorney says he does not plan to file for probation.
