BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (AP) - A Fayette County man serving a 10-year sentence for child pornography possession has been handed an additional year in federal prison for skipping out on his original sentencing date.

Brett David Bowyer, 34, of Scarbro was sentenced Monday in federal court in Bluefield. U.S. District Judge David Faber ordered Bowyer's sentence to run consecutive to his current 10-year term.

According to federal prosecutors, investigators found hundreds of images and videos on his computer of sexual activities involving children. He also received and shared child pornography.

The government says Bowyer failed to appear for his May 2012 sentencing and was arrested last June in Florida following a traffic stop. He was sentenced in August on the child porn charge. A month later he pleaded guilty to failing to appear for sentencing.
