PRINCETON - A body found in Mercer County
was identified on Friday at a press conference in Princeton.
Deputy A.R. Ballard said 31-year-old
Patrick Eric Neal was pronounced dead on Thursday after he was found on Stoney
Ridge Road. The call came in from a bus driver on his morning route for Mercer
County Schools. The body was found at approximately 7:15 a.m., but was hit by
another bus prior to this.
According to officials, that driver
was unsure of what he hit and assumed it to be debris. Investigators said they
discovered that Neal was walking along the road after leaving a friend’s house
in the area around 2 AM. The cause of death remains under investigation.
Ballard said, “there was also an
additional bus that had traveled the same roadway approximately one hour
earlier, around 6:15 AM. That did run over an object in the same vicinity. We
are not certain that Mr. Neal may have not been deceased prior to this
collision, and was already deceased in the roadway."
Deputy Ballard said the investigation
is ongoing as they are waiting to hear back from the medical examiner to
confirm the cause of death.
