WELCH – The McDowell County Chamber of Commerce welcomes a U.S. Representative to lunch.

Representative Shelley Capito spoke to the Chamber and guests about the current legislative session.

She took questions from the audience about current events, including the water crisis in Charleston and how that impacts Southern West Virginia.

Capito addressed energy, healthcare, and the coal industry. She says her visit to McDowell county was all about bringing Washington to the people.

“(I’ve) always heard of the "Free State of McDowell" and so I needed to get down here to visit Welch and to talk about hope and how we're going to create jobs,” says Capito,

Capito says she is also fighting hard for coal against the EPA.
