LaSala denied parole

WEST COLUMBIA - A Mercer County woman convicted of murdering her father ten years ago will remain in jail.

Kayla LaSala was denied parole Wednesday during a hearing at Lankin Correctional Facility in Mason County. She is currently serving a sentence of 25 years in prison for stabbing her father Steven LaSala 107 times in February of 2004, Kayla was 14 at the time.

The case made national headlines with the appearance on America's Most Wanted. She pleaded guilty to second degree murder in Mercer County, correctional authorities say another parole hearing can take place within a year.
