OAK HILL- Local ham radio enthusiasts held their annual convention today.

Members of the Oak Hill Plateau Amateur Radio Association met Saturday in Oak Hill by holding their annual convention. The group is dedicated to reviving ham radio.

The one-widely popular form of communication can operate without electricity. One group leader says that ham radio is a great tool to have when natural disasters strike.

"Sometimes we use that ability to help communicate in disastrous situations not only here in the state but in the country and all over the world," said association president Robert Kelly.

The group held raffle drawings and had barbecue for sale. For more information on ham radio, visit parawv.com.
