FAYETTEVILLE - A Fayetteville woman who succumbed to injuries sustained from a house fire was remembered Saturday in her hometown.
Nancy Knupp's family gathered at the Fayetteville Baptist Church in a celebration of life service. Her family says she was a very loving person who cared about animal welfare.
According to the Fayetteville Fire Department, Knupp died in January while receiving treatment at a burn center in Charlottesville, Virginia. She received burns to 35-to-40 percent of her body after a fire destroyed her Fayetteville home on High Street. Her husband, Walt was also injured.
"We have asked that in line of flowers, people would donate to a local animal shelter or other charitable cause. She was very passionate person," said family member Beth Keith.
As much as $5,000 was collected on www.gofundme.com to aid the family.
