OAK HILL - Local authorities said they have been busy all day, there is no such things as 'snow days' if you're a policeman.
Oak Hill Police Department had 4 officers out patrolling the roads, and unfortunately most of that work has been responding to accidents. Chief Mike Whisman said they started out the day by pushing and towing people out of being stuck in the snow, but roads have been keeping his men busy all day. No matter the weather conditions, the police officers will be out in all elements. Whisman said, “we have to respond, you know, the more people that comes out, of course the roads are in horrible shape right now and people venture out when they don't have to be out. It makes it difficult to get out and work the accidents and make sure everybody is safe. Not only is it not safe for the public, but it's not safe for the officers actually to be out on the road, but they have to.”
Whisman advised people only to travel if you absolutely have to, otherwise, stay in until the roads have been cleared.
