TAZEWELL - A former U.S. Army corporal is behind bars for possessing more than 7,000 images and 54 videos containing child pornography.

Gregory M. Willis, 26, entered a plea agreement in December to one count of possession of child pornography in excess of five images and in excess of five videos, according to officials with the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force had identified a computer offering to participate in the “sharing” of child porn, according to Sheriff’s Office officials. The initial investigation indicated that the I.P. address was in Bluefield, Virginia. The images of child pornography were then downloaded in an undercover capacity, until Special Agents of the Military Police could execute a search warrant and seize several items used for storing digital media.

Willis had been serving at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, according to officials with the Sheriff’s Office. He was sentenced last month to confinement in federal prison for two years, reduction from corporal to private, forfeiture of all pay and allowances and a bad conduct discharge from the military.
