ANSTED - The Ansted Fire Department expands its effort with a new fire station.
The 25-member volunteer fire department took advantage of the extra space Monday night. They performed search and rescue drills and hose maze drills. Ansted Fire's Public Information Officer Meredith Gray says having a second station will help them focus on additional "simulation" training for real-life situations.
"A lot of people are learning a lot every time we train, so it helps honed in on the skills that we need to fight real fires or to conduct a search and rescue to help someone out a residency if they happen to be trapped," Meredith Gray, PIO - Ansted Volunteer Fire Department.
The new station is a former auto body shop on 93 Church Street in Ansted. A dedication ceremony will take place, but a date has yet to be set.
