FAYETTEVILLE - A Fayetteville woman who was recovering from burns after she was rescued from her burning home by emergency responders has succumbed to her injuries.

Nancy Knupp died while receiving treatment at a center in Virginia, according to the Fayetteville Fire Department. Relatives say Knupp was recovering from burns to 35 percent of her body. Her husband, Walt, was also injured.

Earlier this month, relatives of the Knupps told Newswatch they raised as much as $5,000 on gofundme. com to help the family.

The couple's High Street home was destroyed in January. Family members believe several exotic pets failed to make it out of the home alive.
