Health professionals in Raleigh County want residents to make a change in their lifestyles to improve their health.

Several departments at Raleigh General Hospital are urging the public to participate in Friday's Heart Smart Fair to learn more about healthy activity. In addition to information about early intervention, guests will also be receive free cholesterol testing.

Hospital staff say some tips for a stronger heart include exercising, eating healthy and watching for warning signs.

"Listen to your heart because a lot of people have those mild symptoms, so they ignore them, so when you have those mild symptoms, I think you need to get them checked out," Gloria Krass, of Raleigh General Hospital, told WOAY.

Doctors and nurses said their goal is to educate the public, and make the community stronger through education. The fair is set for Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
