BECKLEY - A convicted felon who was caught possessing a gun with an obliterated serial number back in July was sentenced to two years and six months in jail.

Benjamin Payne, 47, of Clear Creek, previously pleaded guilty to possessing and storing a loaded revolver with an obliterated serial number in his car.  U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said Payne had acquired the gun several weeks prior to his arrest.  He had multiple convictions on burglary charges.
