OAK HILL – A brand new truck carrying loads of brand new books makes its maiden voyage in Fayette County this morning.

Fayette County Library has been waiting to unveil the new bookmobile, received before Christmas, but the weather has kept it grounded until today.

Students at New River Elementary toured the bookmobile and learned the rules for checking out, and offered suggestions for what it should carry.

Library officials say this new tool will help spread the joy of reading.

“We want to reach more people in Fayette County and we just do that by going to the schools. But we are also going to have some community stops, some head-starts, and, day cares, nursing homes,” says Director of Libraries, Judy Gunsaulis.

The bookmobile will be touring through a number of Fayette Co. schools in the near future.
